Africa has the highest number of female entrepreneurs in the world and women run over a quarter of all businesses on the African continent, yet they still struggle to raise adequate funding to scale their businesses to the levels of their male counterparts. Representation, funding, and access market opportunities remain the key factors impeding diversity across various sectors of our economies. In response to these challenges DLO launched the inaugural DLO African Women in Leadership Summit in 2023 which gathered board members, CEOs, entrepreneurs, creatives, political leadership, and civil society, with the objective of driving meaningful changes towards the representation of women across all sectors of the economy. The Summit is data driven and we have partnered with KMPG as our knowledge partner and each year we are able to assess the progress made in the diversity of representation of women across various sectors.
